Pilates Pro Works

2128 N. Halsted St., Chicago, IL

Built in 1890 as a Chicago Police Station, the lower level space was renovated to accommodate a pilates studio based out of San Francisco. As base renovation architect of record, KMA created a layout to incorporate a barre studio, pilates studio, reception area, and restrooms. Prior to renovation, there were remnants of steel bars from jail cells, no entry from Halsted, and the original lightwell windows were masonry infilled. KMA designed a new exterior open stairway and partially reopened the windows to allow natural light down into this once dark lower level space.
